Too often the places where significant African American history happened have been unrecognized for the important role they play in the fabric of American society. These spots were part of a campaign by the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund to raise awareness and funding for restoration— an effort that raised approximately $150 million and supported 304 preservation projects nationally.
